Mathematics Departmental Mailing Lists

Dan Chaney, Postmaster etc. for Math Sciences, has helped me set up an

electronic mailing list to replace the cumbersome elm aliases.text file
that we've been using for group mailings.  With the new mailing lists,
you needn't bother setting up and maintaining a personal aliases.text
file for mass mailings.  You can send a blanket e-mail to these lists
from any account -- it isn't necessary to send it from an ms account.

Naturally, this means I will no longer forward messages for you.

The following mailing lists now exist:
 
        ma-dept@ms.uky.edu

which includes these sub-lists:

        ma-faculty@ms.uky.edu
               ma-instructors@ms.uky.edu
        ma-visitors@ms.uky.edu
        ma-staff@ms.uky.edu
        ma-library@ms.uky.edu
        ma-grad@ms.uky.edu

There is also an undergraduate math major mailing list that is
maintained by some folks in the Math Club:

        undergrad-math@ms.uky.edu
 

Using the New Mailing List

To send a blanket e-mail to everyone in the Department of Mathematics,  send mail to "ma-dept". (Use "ma-dept@ms.uky.edu" if you are not on the ms machines).

If you want your mail to go only to math graduate students,  send mail to "ma-grad", or use "ma-faculty" for faculty only, etc.
