RESEARCH INTERESTS:
My current research focuses on commutative algebra, its combinatorial and computational aspects, and its interactions with statistics and biology. I am interested in projective varieties, algebraic properties and the combinatorial invariants (Hilbert series, Grobner fans) of their coordinate rings and defining ideals.
Specifically, I am interested in toric ideals of some well-studied varieties (rational normal scrolls), various toric ideals that can be associated to a graph (cut ideals, Ferrers ideals), and toric ideals arising in algebraic statistics (phylogenetics, hierarchical models).
My advisor is Uwe Nagel.
