Practical Information
You can find a Purdue University campus map by clicking
here.
If you have a car, there is parking in the visitor
parking lot next to the Purdue Memorial Union. Parking garage fees are as follows:
1st 30 minutes - $1.00, 2nd 30 minutes - $2.00, thereafter $1.00 an hour.
Maximum of $10.00 a day. Garage parking for overnight Union Club Hotel
guests is complimentary. For more information visit the
University Parking page.
If you travel by
plane, you will want to fly into Indianapolis. There is
convenient shuttle service from the airport directly to
the Purdue Union. The shuttle leaves from the ground
transportation zone 6 every two hours from 6:30 am to 10:30 pm
(Lafayette Limo,
www.lafayettelimo.com)
and every two hours
from 6:20 am to 10:20 pm (Star of America, www.soashuttle.com).
It is advisable to make a reservation, though not strictly
necessary. Please let us know if your flight arrives after the
last shuttle leaves. There is also shuttle service from O'Hare
Airport in Chicago to the Purdue Airport
(Express Air Coach, www.expressaircoach.com).
A reservation and payment in advance are required.
If you are planning to rent a car at the airport (or in general too),
here is a suggestion:
go to: www.priceline.com
click on: cars
click on: name your own price
select the pick up and drop off airport
(say, Indianapolis, IN) then put down the pick up/drop off dates and times
click on: economy car
click on: bid now
write all the required information and
bid $12-$15/day.
Warning: The above price is not guaranteed at the Indianapolis airport.
We hear that people got $11-$15/day deals at other airports in the past...so
this method is definitely worth trying.
As a practical note, it is likely that you will get a better price as you bid
closer to the rental day and the car will be better too.
In addition, it also seems that in Chicago (ORD airport) you can get the
lowest car bids.
