Research

My Ph.D. research is in 3-Manifold Algorithms.  My dissertation focused on using Normal and Almost Normal surface theory to write algorithms that allow us to study their complexity.

At Kentucky, I participate in the Topology Seminar.

Service

I serve on the College of Arts and Sciences' Educational Policy Committee.

I am currently in charge of TA Professional Development in the Mathematics Department, and care about TA PD very much. We have a webpage and a Mathematics Teaching and Learning Seminar.

I served as the MA 109: College Algebra Course Coordinator from Fall 2019-Spring 2023. For information about the current semester, check out our course syllabus webpage.

In Spring 2017, I supervised the Dual Credit section of MA 109 that ran at one of our local high schools. More recently, the Next Generation Scholars Program has revamped the Dual Credit endeavors at the Univeristy of Kentucky, and I am again supervising Dual Credit MA 109 in Falls 2020 -2023.

Over Summer 2019, I rewrote our MA 109 online course.

I am proud to be a woman in STEM, and like to support different outreach activities that focus on Women in Math and the STEM fields. I have been a faculty mentor for the IAmAWomanInSTEM program at UK and have mentored several graduate students who have presented sessions at the Expanding Your Horizons conference for middle school girls.

I also currently serve on the STEM Program Faculty in the College of Education.

Not mathematically related, I also serve on the Parent Advisory Council for the Kentucky Children's Hospital.
