Apply to University of Kentucky Mathematics Graduate Programs
To apply to the graduate program in mathematics you will need to make two separate applications. First, you will need to apply to the Graduate School at the University of Kentucky. Second, you will need to apply to the Mathematics Programs at the Department of Mathematics. Your application for the graduate programs in mathematics will automatically be considered for teaching assistantships and, if completed by February 1, for fellowships as well.
Please follow the following two steps to complete your application.
Step 1: Application to the UK Graduate School
To apply to the Graduate School, please follow the instructions and fill out an online application at the Graduate School's webpage
Please note that the graduate school no longer accepts paper-based application. You will be asked to submit the following items; see the graduate school information page for more details.
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores sent directly from the Educational testing service to the Graduate School. The institution code for the University of Kentucky is 1837. Notice that only the general GRE scores are required.
- A copy of official transcript from each College and University attended. It must be sent directly from the registrar of your institution to the Graduate School.
- Application fee of $50 for domestic applicants or $65 for international applicants. This may be paid online.
- Applicants for whom English is not their native language and who received their bachelor's degree outside the United States must submit Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores.
Step 2: Application to the Mathematics Programs at Department of Mathematics
To apply for admission to the mathematics graduate programs as well as teaching assistantships and fellowships, the following information must be sent to:

- University of Kentucky Mathematics Application for Admission, Fellowships and Teaching Assistantships available in several formats.
- An unofficial copy of transcript from each college and university attended.
- Three letters of recommendation. At least two of these letters should be from faculty in upper-division mathematics courses or others who are familiar with your work in mathematics. Please provide your references with these guidelines for referees.
