This conference will bring together researchers of national
and international stature as well as recent Ph.Ds in the field
of partial differential equations. It will focus on problems
in the areas of variational inequalities, potential theory,
regularity and partial regularity in the calculus of variations,
nonlinear elliptic and parabolic equations, nonlinear dispersive
equations, boundary value problems in nonsmooth domains.
The following mathematicians have accepted our invitation to speak
at the conference.
-
Michael G. Crandall (University of California at Santa Barbara)
-
Hi Jun Choe (KAIST, Korea)
-
Lawrence C. Evans (University of California at Berkeley)
-
Donatella Danielli (Purdue University)
-
Bob Hardt (Rice University)
-
Juha Heinonen (University of Michigan)
-
Steve Hofmann (University of Missouri)
-

This conference will honor David Adams, Ronald Gariepy, and John
Lewis, three internationally renowned mathematicians at the University
of Kentucky, who have made major contributions in the field of partial
differential equations over the last thirty years. This conference is
a part of the Midwest PDE Seminar series in 2002. It is also supported
by the IMA at the University of Minnesota as a PI conference. The
conference is supported financially by the Department of Mathematics of the
University of Kentucky, the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Research
and Graduate Studies of the University of Kentucky, the National
Science Foundation, Division of Mathematical Sciences through their
support of the Midwest Partial
Differential Equations Seminar, McGraw-Hill, and the
Institute for Mathematics and its
Applications as an IMA Participating Institution conference.
Funds are available to support participants. Priority will be given to
students and recent Ph.Ds as well as underrepresented groups of
researchers. Participants from participating institutions of the IMA
may obtain financial support from their PI funds.
For further information, please contact members of the organizing
committee: Russell Brown, Peter Hislop, and Zhongwei Shen (Chair) (shenz@ms.uky.edu).
Registration form
Participants who will attend the banquet or
who wish to apply for travel funds are asked to print out the registration form and
send it in by ordinary mail.
