International Workshop

The conference will be an occasion to honor Wolmer Vasconcelos of Rutgers University, one of the most distinguished senior commutative algebraists and a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. He grew up in the vicinity of Recife, where he also received his undergraduate education.

The lectures presented at the international workshop will detail recent developments in Commutative Algebra, emphasizing the connection with Algebraic Geometry, Combinatorics and Computer Algebra:
  1. the homological conjectures;
  2. problems in positive and mixed characteristic;
  3. tight closure and its interaction with birational geometry;
  4. integral dependence and blowup algebras;
  5. equisingularity theory;
  6. Hilbert functions and multiplicities;
  7. combinatorial commutative algebra;
  8. Gröbner bases and computational algebra.
