Hints for entering the answers to WHS problems:
-
Here is a quick reference table showing how to enter certain answers:
-
When the problem asks for a numerical solution and you use your calculator, then be sure to get the right accuracy as needed in the problem.
for instance, if the answer is
. the answer is
correct to three decimal places.
The good news is that you can just type: (1+sqrt(2))/2 in the answer box and WHS will calculate it for you.
Be sure to put in correct syntax and enough parentheses! For instance, 1+sqrt(2)/2 is something else:
(check with a calculator).

This idea can be extended to more complicated expressions and you should experiment and use this idea as needed.

As a general suggestion, be aware that sometimes the system may misinterpret your answers due to a technical reason. Be sure to double check your own work and syntax and if you are sure that you have not made a mistake, send in a help message reporting the problem.
Do not feel shy or dejected if the system keeps on rejecting your correct answer!

For answers which ask you to give an equation as answers, it is possible to insert many equivalent forms of equations. However, the theory expects you to learn simplification and specific arrangements. Be sure to compare your answer with the one provided by the system, to help you learn what is expected.
Thus, for example, the equation of a line through the point
and slope
can be entered in many ways as shown below.
The first is the easiest to write from the formula, while the second is what is expected.
