Introduction to Using SFU Telnet Client and SFU Telnet Server

SFU Telnet Client and SFU Telnet Server are components that can be installed separately or together. Both components support UNIX-like terminal capabilities. Although the VT100 or ANSI terminal types are typically used for Telnet connections, a special terminal type of VTNT is available when connecting an SFU Telnet client and server. The VTNT terminal type provides enhanced screen support for screen-oriented applications such as Edit.

In addition to its role in Windows NT and UNIX integration, a Telnet connection can serve as a method for remotely administering computers running Windows NT and UNIX. Most of the functionality of the standard Windows NT administration tools is available on the command-line, and a Telnet connection requires less bandwidth and no graphical user interface (GUI).

Note   NTLM can only be used between a SFU Telnet client and a SFU Telnet server. UNIX Telnet clients and standard Windows NT 4.0 Telnet clients do not support this feature.
