Course Description  A careful study of the calculus of functions of a single real variable. Topics will include elementary topologcal properties of the real line, limits, continuity, differentiation and intrgration. 
Prerequisites MA 213 and MA 322

Textbook  Stephen Abbott, Undersranding Analysis, 2nd edition

Classwork & Homework 
To succeed in the course you must:
  • Attend and actively participate in every class
  • Carefully read the relevant sections of the textbook
  • Work on every assigned problem. 
  • Actively work on improving your mathematical writing skills
  • Actively seek help whenever you encounter difficulty with any aspect of the course.
There will be weekly homework assignments typically due on Wednesdays.  The solutions for all assigned problems will be posted on this site.

Exams There will be 3 exams, two midterms (tentatively on October 9 and November 22) and a final (on December 17, 8:00 AM).


Grading  The course grade will be computed as follows:
  • The homework (problems from the book) will represent 25% of the course grade
  • Each of the 3 exams will represent 25% of the course grade
  • The letter grade will be determined according to the following scale:
