Many students are interested in their grade in this course, and it is
University policy that students be given their grade at midterm.
The following information may be used to compute one's grade in MA113
and MA193 at midterm. I am handing it out now, in order that you will
know what information you must collect to determine your grade. Please
see Brown or your teaching assistant if you have any questions.

Exam scores

     Exam 1 ________ of 100

     Exam 2 ________ of 100

Homework and quizzes

Divide total of points earned by
total points possible to obtain a
percentage score and multiply by 50. ________ of 50

Total
Add the three lines above to obtain ________ of 250

Letter grades. If your total is 225 or more, you have an A.
If your total is 200 or more, you have a B.
If your total is 175 or more, you have a C.
If your total is 150 or more, you have a D.

Notes: If you have missed a homework assignment and your name is on
Brown's list of excused assignments, then your total may be slightly
higher.

MA193

If you have zero or one unexcused absences in MA193, you are passing
MA193. If you have two unexcused absences, you have a failing grade at
midterm, but may pass MA 193 if you do not have another unexcused
absence this semester. If you have three or more unexcused absences,
you will fail MA193 and should drop.
