She has the special distinction of having equal flair in both Raga Music as well as the lighter versions of Thumri, Dadra, Bhajan, Nazrulgeeti, Bengali Tappa and Puratani songs. She has successfully perceived the soul within the ancient ragas and then emerged on a journey of unique creativity and perfect rendition.

Born on 8th December, 1962, Rajyasree Ghosh started her training in Indian Classical Music at a very early age. Her musical career, ever since, has been a glorious journey. She emerged as a gold medalist both in her B.A and M.A in Classical Music (Khayal) at the Rabindra Bharati University. She was later awarded the National Scholarship by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India in 1986 under the guidance of Pandit Amiya Ranjan Banerjee. She was a Scholar at the Sangeet Research Academy, where she studied music under the guidance of Smt. Girija Devi and Pandit Arun Bhaduri. Later she received advanced training from Late Pandit K.G. Ginde. In light classical field she took extensive training of Thumri, Dadra etc from Smt Girija Devi at Sangeet Research Academy. She learned Nazrulgeeti  from Late Smt. Suprava Sarkar and she is still learning Bengali Tappa, Puratani etc from Shri. Ramkumar Chatterjee.

Gifted with a beautiful voice both powerful and melodious, Rajyasree has developed a style characterised by riveting (compositions) Bandishes, reposeful Alaps and rigorous Bol-Tans. Her music has a special romantic flavor which is bestowed by her powerful, yet tender approach.

Rajyasree Ghosh has performed and won laurels in several prestigious music conferences as well as the West Bengal Music Academy. She was placed first for three consecutive years (1984-1986) in the Dover Lane Music Competition in Khayal, Ragpradhan and Bhajan. She features regularly in the All India Radio and is a lecturer at Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata.

In the year 2000, she, at the invitation of Bangiya Parishad in Oman, went to Muscat and performed several music programs, and earned rich accolades. Afterwards in the years 2001 and 2002, she came to the USA and performed several music programmes at Kansas City, San Francisco, Columbus, Dayton, Boston, Houston, and Cincinnati which were highly attended and immensely appreciated by the Indian and the local residents in those places, with the request to visit again.
