Section 19.2 Practice Quizzes

Every quiz in Standard 5 will use the following format:

1. The first question will be about exponential functions, but nothing about graphs or end behavior of exponentials. That covers material from Chapter 17, but not Section 17.2.

2. The second question will be about logarithmic functions, but nothing about graphs of logarithms. That covers material from Chapter 18, but not Section 18.2.

3. The third question will be about graphs and end behavior, including logarithmic and exponential functions. That covers material from Section 17.2 and Section 18.2.

The practice problems in each section of the textbook, as well as all of your homework problems and any in-class activities, will all give you a sense of what kinds of questions to expect. Remember: any homework question is a potential quiz question.

To help you prepare for the quizzes, we have put together practice quizzes below which follow the same format and topics as the actual quizzes. However, remember that the exact questions on the quiz will be different so be sure to review all of the potential questions.

The most effective way to use the practice quizzes is as follows:

1. First, review your notes and do some practice problems before looking at the practice quiz.

2. Put away all of your notes and technology, and take the practice quiz as if it was the real thing.

3. Use the solutions to the practice quiz to check your work after you have done the problems on your own.

4. Go to office hours, the Mathskeller, or the Study to ask about any problems you are having trouble with.
